I own a MacBook, which I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Leopard. I thought that iLife ‘08 would be part of the Leopard upgrade, but I can’t find the new iLife programs anywhere.
Apple includes the latest version of iLife for free with the purchase of any new Mac. But once you already own a Mac, future upgrades to the operating system and iLife are independent from one another. So if you’d like to upgrade a MacBook running Mac OS 10.4 Tiger and iLife ’06 to Mac OS 10.5 Leopard and iLife ’08, you would have to purchase both Leopard ($129, www.apple.com) and iLife ’08 ($79).
Yeah...

It use to come with OS X. When I bought Panther it came with the most up to date iLife, I think after that they stopped selling them together.

No this isn't news. You had to pay for iLife for, what? Years? Who's this guy and why are you giving him a soapbox? Is he a new staff guy?
You get what you pay for

You paid for iLife '06*. You got iLife '06. If you upgrade your OS, you still got iLife '06.
*whether you wanted it or not most likely, but that's a completely different story.
I think he meant to ask how

I think he meant to ask how he could get back the iLife version installed with his previous system. There is a way to get it but I don't know if it is legal.
Did you reformat at the same

Did you reformat at the same time? I upgraded and had no problem.

There is a $30 discount off of iLife 08 for .Mac members bringing the price down to $49. Don't know if that helps but it's better than nothing! I'm still waiting for that new MacBook Pro!
