We all know about the iPad's surging popularity, and how eReaders are starting to become the trend. But ever wondered the demographics of who uses these up and coming devices? Nielsen Company dug into that very topic of discussion.
During Advertising Week's Mobile Ad Summit on Tuesday, the Nielsen Company had unveiled the results of a survey of 5,000 consumers of whom, own a tablet computer, eReader, netbook, media player or smartphone - which included 400 iPad owners. What exactly did said survey reveal? Read on!
-Apple iPad owners tend to be younger and male. 65% are male and 63% are under 35.
-Amazon Kindle owners tend to have a bit more in their pocketbooks. 44% make more than $80,000/year versus 39% of iPad owners and 37% of iPhone owners. In terms of education, 27% of Kindle owners had Master's degrees or PhDs.
-iPad owners are also more in tune with advertising; 39% say that ads that are on their connected device are new and interesting (versus 19% of all connected device owners), and 46% said that they enjoy ads with interactive features (versus 27% of the rest).
-Most telling though for advertisers, was that iPad owners are the most likely to have made a purchase as a result of seeing an ad on their connected device.
