If you're a Tivo Premier owner, you've got a new reason for you to pick up an iPad. Conversely, if you already own an iPad, you may want to consider the purchase of a Tivo Premier. What we're driving at here is that Tivo has announced a companion app for the iPad designed to work with the Tivo Premier!

While Tivo hasn't provided us with a firm release date for their iOS application, they have given us a hearty sneak-peek of the new application's functionality, and from what they're saying, it should be a welcome addition to any Tivo Premier user's entertainment arsenal. The app allows users to quickly surf new content, view program guides and schedule the recording of individual programs or whole seasons on your iPad without having to open up your Tivo's interface on your TV. For folks who take their TV time seriously, those are some seriously sweet upgrades. The app also features some other thoughtful touches, such as the ability to look up details about the cast and crew of the show you're currently watching, Twitter and Facebook integration and gesture-based control of the application.

Tivo has stated on their website that current subscribers to their service will receive email notification of the app's availability as soon as it arrives in the iTunes App Store.
