Advent is a port of the original computer text adventure from 1976. The game describes your surroundings, and you interact with them by typing short commands such as “get lamp,” or “go north”. Unfortunately, the screen only shows the results of one command at a time, so you can’t just scroll back to earlier actions to see what happened or to get your bearings. This can make long Advent sessions a real chore. But, if text adventures are your thing, there’s some fun to be had despite the port's shortcomings. Figuring out what “xyzzy” means is a treat.
Try the same Adventure on the iPhone with Frotz

Frotz is a very polished z-code interpreter for the iPhone and "Advent" is available in z-code form. So this same game can be played that way.
Advent can be installed in Frotz by pressing the Browse ifdb button in iPhone Frotz and searching for Crwother (one of the original authors) - then choose "Adventure" then choose one of the files ending in .z5 (There are Swedish, German and French language versions available too).
This gives you the more sophisticated Frotz UI, but still with the pleasure of figuring out what "xyzzy" means.
This is the game "Zork", Popular in the 70's

I am sure the author and owner will have some comment on this port of their work.

Wow...if HHGTTG makes it, it'll finally make sense to get an iTouch. Now if only we could get those great World Builder games back.
