Bounce Trap
Posted 01/12/2009 at 3:40:46am | by Joe Rybicki

bounce trap
Not even Tiggers would bounce here.

When it comes to quick, portable diversions, there's simple, and then there's really simple. Bounce Trap falls squarely into the latter category with its barely interactive mix of tapping the screen and, uh... waiting.

The game queues a bunch of colored balls at the top of the screen. One pops out and rolls across the top of the screen. You tap to drop the ball into the main section of the screen, where it will either fall in a hole (that's good!), bounce off a series of obstacles and/or already-filled holes (that's also good), or drop through the bottom of the screen (that's bad).

While you're waiting to find out which of these thrilling outcomes will transpire, your job is to do exactly nothing. Like a slot machine (or more accurately, a pachinko machine), Bounce Trap is more a game of chance than other iPhone offerings. In that respect, it does have a certain addictive quality to it. Unfortunately, it also has some fairly obnoxious music, sound effects that quickly grate on the nerves, and some shockingly choppy animation considering how simple a game it is.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Bounce Trap will appeal to a certain breed of passive obsessive. But those who prefer to play with their games--versus just watching--should pass.
