It seems that if you're looking to commit an armed felony, there's no app for that. Unfortunately, no one bothered to tell this to a 20-year-old Connecticut man who attempted and subsequently failed to rob a restaurant.
Allegedly, after donning a mask and walking into a restaurant while waving around what appeared to be a compact fire arm, Jerome Taylor informed the business' patrons and restaurant staff that he was staging a robbery, and as such demanded all of their money. The restaurant's cooks, however, wouldn't hear of it. Grabbing a number of large, sharp knives, the kitchen staff came to the front of house and declared that Taylor wouldn't be leaving the building with anyone's money. Intimidated by the kitchen staff's show of heroism, Taylor suddenly changed his tune, showing the well-armed cooks that his gun was in reality nothing more than an iPhone. Fearing for his life, the would-be robber became apologetic, explaining that he had tried to rob the restaurant because he needed money to support his child. According to MSNBC, Taylor had fled the scene by the time the police arrived, but was captured a short time later.
In what can only be described as a Christmas miracle, the restaurant's staff told the police that they did not want to press any charges against Taylor as they felt sorry for him. Nonetheless, police charged Taylor with Attempted Robbery and Interfering With an Officer.
