Online, multi-player gaming has come to the iPhone... We predict a whole new level of geekdom when the Magic: The Gathering app is created.
Which someone should get on that right away and make a whole lot of App Store money.
If you have an iPhone, or iPod touch, you've probably downloaded your fair share of games. The iPhone gaming platform has become such a huge deal, it's caught the attention of big time gaming companies. So it's no surprise that developers are starting to develop games that take advantage of the iPhone's internet connection for live, multi-player action.
One of the companies to to provide free online multi-player gaming is San Francisco based Zynga. Their Texas Hold'em game, Live Poker allows you play against their 1.5 million web-based players, or you can challenge friends from social networking sites Facebook and Myspace. The game uses Facebook's "Facebook Connect" feature, so you can sign in with your Facebook login and password without leaving the game. The company offers two versions of the game. A free version and a $9.99 version that offers a larger chip package (we're guessing that means more $$$) and access to tournaments.

Another publisher going multi-player is Palo Alto-based Tapulous. They've updated their popular Guitar-Heroesque game for the iPhone, Tap Tap Revenge, which now includes online gameplay. They do state that it is a work-in-progress type deal, but it seems to be working well for some of our testers. It's safe to say that with over 2 million downloads, you will always find someone to tap tap against online.
We are still waiting to see a group of guys sitting around the break room at lunch arguing about which land plains are in play and who has a higher point creature in their deck before taping out. We have Autochthon Wurm, Krosan Cloudscraper, Darksteel Colossus, and Sutured Ghoul in our deck, so we aren't to worried about them.
