SnapTell Explorer Brings Black Magic to the iPhone - Retrieves Product Info Via Photo
|
Using what can only be described as, powers bestowed on them by the black arts, SnapTell, Inc. has released the SnapTell Explorer app. Launch the app, take a picture of a Book, DVD, CD or Video Game cover. The app then uses the photo to retrieve information about the product and delivers a rating, description and links to Wikipedia, IMDB, Barnes & Noble and Google.
Yeah, we're a little scared too.
SnapTell says that it uses advanced image recognition technology to instantly match the image against a database of millions of images. We're not convinced the company isn't in cahoots with the devil. Two quick test with the app returned perfect results. A third test using a picture of Robbie returned no results. So at least we know they don't have a database of people--yet.

The app is free, and if you're not too concerned about your eternal soul--we're not--try it out.
