There's good news this morning for Verizon iPhone customers: The company has officially announced that they will be offering an unlimited iPhone data plan for $30 a month. Given that AT&T did away with their unlimited data plan in favor of tiered pricing last summer for most iPhone users, this could be a very compelling reason to switch carriers.
For heavy data users, an unlimited data plan is a dream come true (providing that dream doesn't involve surfing and talking at the same time), but as much as we want to believe that the offer of the $30 plan was announced in a fit of affection of iPhone users, we're certain that Verizon is only offering it up as a means to draw in as many new customers as possible while the announcement of the debut of the iPhone on their network still has verve. Cementing this opinion, Verizon's Chief Operating Officer Lowell McAdam has stated that those interested in the plan would do well to act quickly, as his company would only be offering the unlimited data plan for a limited time before switching to a tiered pricing structure of their own.
