iPhone: Unbox, Setup, and...Huh? (with Photos)
Posted 06/30/2007 at 2:38:11am | by Roman Loyola

After standing in line for a few hours, we got our iPhone. We hurried back to the Mac|Life offices so we can show you our iPhone experience in pictures.

Note: This setup involved an existing AT&T account. Several hours later, we were able to activate the phone. We were able to activate a new account on an iPhone without delays.

Unboxing the iPhone. We have two iPhones, one from an AT&T store, and the other from an Apple Store.

You get a cool iPhone bag if you shop at the Apple Store.

You get a frumpy AT&T bag that's sealed shut before you leave the store.

Next: the iPhone box.

I kinda expected it to go like this after having seen how Apple packs things, but at the same point I almost expected something more... but then again compared to the Wii or Xbox360's packing (yea i know those have more stuff anyhow) I do always appreciate how simple the packing for Apple products is.

avatarthe iPhone looks amazing,

the iPhone looks amazing, and it probably feels amazing in the palm of your hand, too. It's sleek, curvy, shiny, and sexy, with on-screen icons and buttons that just ooze and drip class.

avatarsleek, curvy, shiny and yes sexy to the core

.........car5 - you know you are sooo right! The iPhone is superbly sleek, curvy, shiny and elegantly sexy!!! Feels great in my hand, perfect size, shape and ultimately smooth! I enjoy running across someone that really appreciates the optimum design that Apple puts in to all of their products - of course, with every product I've purchased over the years the packaging makes the purchase that much more enjoyable.

avatarIt fills me with glee to see

It fills me with glee to see this ridiculous device suffer. Apple gave you all what you wanted, and I hope you're happy.

avatarDoes the last poster work

Does the last poster work for Microsoft?... Its a beautiful thing! I'll be buying mine as soon as my contract is up...in JANUARY! Maybe by then it will have more memory and faster internet. Either way I'm sooo jealous, it looks cool! Its not a space station...its an Iphone!

avatarNado408...

Do I work for Microsoft? No. Does the atrocity that is the iPhone make me want to? Still no. I just don't think that Apple is infallible, however much I'd like to. Cell phones are nothing but huge money pits, end of story.

Most of the people who want this device already have an iPod for music and a laptop for wireless web surfing, because people with that kind of budget are the only ones who can afford one. At that point, why not just get a regular cell phone and save your 600 bucks for paying your inevitably prodigious wireless bill?

avatariphone is beautiful!!!

Obviously you don't 'get' Apple as a whole! It's not about the money or who can afford any Apple product. Apple prodcts are a huge step above the rest, always have been - always will be, regardless of price. Haven't you ever heard that you get what you pay for? And yes... I got mine Friday.

avataryou don't have to wait

You may have heard by now, but you don't have to wait until your contract is up. I thought that also, the whole way driving to the AT&T store thinking I hope my contract is up. Got there, and yep! they give you a brand new 2 year contract - doesn't matter when your contract is up. Sigh... of relief - had to have it! In the past, I have done as you might do and held out for the upgraded versions a few months down the road - just couldn't wait this time! The iphone is absolutely beautiful and I would expect nothing less from Apple. Hope you get yours soon!
