iPhone Apps Safari

The final release of the iPhone SDK is quickly approaching. As we impatiently await new apps, the Mac|Life staff has been speculating on what apps are already in the works by some of our favorite companies.
We're hoping Sling Media will have a Sling Player ready for the iPhone and that TiVo creates an iPhone app that will simplify online scheduling.
Before we start calling these companies to get the status on their iPhone app development, we decided to ask our readers what company's app they are hoping will arrive soon. Just drop your iPhone app wishes in the comments below and we'll try to get the developer to spill the beans on the likelihood of the app seeing the light of day.
UPDATE: We'll be calling on Thursday, so be sure to have your comment in by late Wednesday night.

A fully working metronome with tempo fully adjustable from 40-220 BPM and a touch sensitive tempo reader would be desirable. I had one on my Palm Zire which worked great. It would work best with just a simple higher pitched beep, and the emphasis for 2/4, 3/4. 4/4 etc. being optional.

what I think would be cool... Include the video cam feature previously requested...and take it UP a notch...
VIDEO PHONE... the ability to hold the phone in front of me.. or better yet, stand it on edge on desk/surface, and have it be more than a speaker phone (or bluetooth headset) video phoneWhat I need... is for EPOCRATES medical reference software to run (as per the developer iPhone demo video )... I cannot justify purchase of iPhone until it can replace (or IMPROVE) on the function and features I get now with a PALM TREO.

2) transcription option for a selected, recorded clip (e.g., send to quicktate, receive translated text via email)
3) foreign language dictionaries (without needing to go to the web)

Small option field at bottom of iPhone apps like a choice menu for things like convert option in the calculator, mark message read in email etc. This would be an easy way to make the too simple apps a little more useful

I give presentations for a living, and use a Mac and Keynote. I'm actually holding out on buying an iPhone until I can connect it to a projector and run my presentations from it. Not like the kind offered by "iPresent It," but fully animated presentations with motion, transitions and movies.

I'd like to record video with audio. I'd like to type notes using a bluetooth keyboard, as well as pair the iphone with those satellite-gps devices that provide their own satellite-gps software if Apple won't do that. VOIP over both iphone and ipod touch would be nice. Also, it's be great to use the iphone or ipod touch as a source from which to stream itunes music to the airport express to get that music into my surround sound system's line input. Also, double-tapping a Safari URL used to put that web page's URL into an email. That would be nice to have again. Finally, copy and paste with most applications would help.

Would be critical to have a search/spotlight where you could search for text. e.g an appointment or a contact that you only remember the company name.

I would love to see a BIGGER HARD DRIVE! My iPod is 80GB, why can't iPhone be 80GB also. I plan on buying the next evolution of iPhone, but what stopped me from owning one already is the hard drive. My iTunes is already up to about 40GB so I would only be able to put one playlist on my phone. PLEASE, Apple, can you do 80GB?

I do not own an an iPhone. I believe it is the best in the cell phone industry, but I do not own one. I shall rush to the Apple Store and purchase an iPhone as soon as I have my free choice of service provider. As long as the unmentionable provider is my only choice, I shall make do with my simple cell and the excellent service provided by Verizon Wireless. Ergo, the app I want is an Apple approved "Service Provider Unlock Code." End.

Please, Please, Please let it be known that someone needs some sort of work-around to view photos sent via text message from other cell phones. Using the viewmymessage.com is a bunch of crap, it works slow if at all, and is a big headache trying to do it on the iphone. That is my only real beef with any of the mac products I own. I hope you can talk somebody into it!!! Go man Go!!

This site is such a terrible idea!! Its so slow to connect to and the login name and password are impossible to remember, you have to keep flicking back and forth. Also, I want to be able to send pics to my friends cell phones. Every other phone can do these... I don't understand why its more difficult for iphones...

This great recipe-management application creates a shopping list and I want it on my iPhone! And I want to be able to see my recipes on my iPhone—whose name is iRis after the Greek Goddess of communication. If I see an especially plump mound of blueberries in the produce section, I want to be able to scan my ACBK recipes to see what I might want to make with them…and, of course, to see what other ingredients I'll need to complete the recipe(s).
The developer, Tony Cate, is conscientious and responsive. Anyone who enjoys cooking and their iPhone really should have the ability to sync the shopping list from their computer to iPhone for shopping trips.
I know that there are some browser-based lists out there for the iPhone, but reception is not so great inside many stores. Even with the best of reception, there are no recipes with me in the store.
I waited for over five years for Apple to release the iPhone and now it is time to pair the abilities of the wondrous iPhone with the magnificent ACBK.
In anticipation,
Terre Spencer
