iPhone Rumor Roundup

iPhone Rumor Roundup

With the iPhone expected to be announced in a week, it can be difficult to keep all the rumors straight.

Will the iPhone have GPS?
Will it have 3G?
Will it come with a squeegee for those of us with oily skin?

We've used the power of the internet to see what rumor mongers are expecting from the next iPhone. This is what we found.

Rumors that may be true.

Announced during WWDC. Kind of a no brainer. Can you imagine Steve making it out of Moscone without announcing the new iPhone?

Launched during WWDC. Less likely to happen, but a good way to get all those developers on the next version of the device. Some have speculated it will launch on Friday, June 27, two days before the iPhone launch anniversary. Regardless of which day, we think it'll launch in June.

Faster mobile internet access with 3G. With 3G references found within the SDK, there is 99.999999 percent chance this will happen.

The iPhone will be slimmer, 22 percent slimmer.

The back will be black with rounded curves similar to this "leaked" image found on Hackintosh. A recent Griffin case molding, also substantiates the rounded back rumor.

The headphone jack will no longer be recessed. If this happens, third-party iPhone cable makers will have lose their lucrative, 2-inch adapter cable market.

Never get lost with GPS. The iFaux location locator is nice, but it doesn't replace the satellite power of GPS. A supplier is allegedly tapped to deliver the chips.

It will be subsidized. Reports are trickling in that the iPhone will be subsidized in the United States and other countries. This will smash the biggest iPhone ownership roadblock, the price.Who can resist a $200 iPhone?

.Mac rebranded as Mobile Me. Mobile Me will bring Outlook-type sync services to .Mac and the iPhone. For some, this will finally make the annual $99 .Mac fee worth it.

Rumors we doubt will materialize.

iPhone nano brings teeny tiny iPhones to the small handed.

Double-sided camera. The iPhone's camera can take pictures from the front and back of the iPhone.

The iPhone will be thicker. We're pretty sure thinner is better than thicker.

Smaller screen. This rumor faded pretty quickly when people realized how insane it was.

The 3G apple iphone is similar to the old iphone. The 3G warranty is still like the old version iphone. Apple doesn’t cover the damage of the iphone. I bought one for my 16 year old son a couple of months ago and he dropped the phone cracking the front screen. We took it to the apple store and they would try to fix it for $250, but luckily I had this other warranty from this company of DTS their site is iphonefix1.net and I sent them my sons cracked iphone and they fixed within the few days and sent it back looking like a brand new iphone. The company DTS with their iphonefix1.net gave us no problems and updates with our iphone. If you are looking to upgrade to 3G, they have them available. I am so glad I had this warranty. I would recommend this warranty to anybody who an iphone

The apple MePa (New York) store was unexpectedly closed this evening (sunday the 8th) at 6:30pm, although the store was full of employees. The guy at the door said it had something to do with the FDNY, but that seems fishy seeing as how there were plenty of employees in there and if there were a fire "incident" they wouldn't have let anyone in the building. Are we talking product launch preparation?

I am hoping that the phone says at the same price points (or less), and does not go back to original prices of last year.

Last time I checked video chat on the iphone is still a rumor. That one is HUGE! Although it looks like the LG Vu commercial (with at&t) had something along those lines but it's hard to tell. I would think video chat would change everything.

I am still hoping for the iPhone time machine. I can't wait till I go to the 1990's and sell my $30 PowerBook 3400c for $4,000 dollars and buy $3 Apple Stock. Though they might be scared when I forget where I am and the gimmicky iPhone show off starts. I could get captured by the CIA and have to share a cell with ET while having to explain to the feds what's a "goo-gilie", an "i-Pod", or a "You-Tube".

Fed: "What is this You-Tube some kind of mind control."
Kendall: "Kind of... More of a mind-eraser really."

Hmm... Maybe I should just go to 2030 when the iPhone finally gets copy and paste instead.

An iPhone with copy and paste now that's far fetched. I better just stick to the time machine thing.

... is a Monday.
June 10th is a Tuesday.
that being said, when does the new iPhone go on sale? Friday June 27th, the last day of the 2nd quarter. Just like last year.
Steverino is waiting until the after the quarter so that earnings & stock price can skyrocket.

June 9th is on a Tuesday. And if you have not noticed in the past that Apple always releases new stuff on a Tuesday.

You're dumb. Check your iCal... June 9th is a MONDAY.

I think it would be funny to see Steve Jobs almost leave and then say... wait there's one more thing... like he always does...

I think it will release on Monday, June 9th....Apple has had the iPhone "unavailable" on their website now since May 10th. I really doubt they want to continue to lose sales on their device (and potential ATT sales) by waiting for the sake of waiting....just my prediction / food for thought. As soon as it is announced (a new iPhone) , the "old" iPhone will not sell anywhere...which means they will have even more missed-opportunities, and so will ATT.
