The Touch Mod crew has released their VoIP solution on time, as promised.
Using an application originally created for VoIP on the Nintendo DS gaming system, the application requires an external mic and a "jailbroken" iPod touch.
Happy chatting iPod touch owners.

now all we need is the creation of a cheep EVDO card for the touch, and the add in of a passthrough for the dongle already in the 6 pin port, and we too will have a cellphone, and it should cost less, and have the same amount of features as the iphone when jailbroken, AND for slightly more than the iphone, you can get 16 gigs of memory!

I found a couple wireless routers that work with the evdo cell cards. Both of these routers are pretty compact. I still need to check out the above link because so far the only voip solution I saw required running software on a nearby pc.
This evdo card works with usb cell cards and is the size of a pda
