Leopard lurking: The developers community says that Leopard (a.k.a. Mac OS 10.5) is nearing gold master. This means that Apple could make its October shipping deadline.
iPhone 1.1.1 update: Apple has released iPhone update 1.1.1. The update is over 150MB, and Apple warns that hacked iPhones may be rendered inoperable. Apple has a video of the new iPhone features, which include the iTunes WiFi Store, louder volumes, support for TV out, and more.
iLife '08 updates: As we reported earlier, Apple has released updates to iLife'08. You can get the updates by running Software Update (Apple Menu > Software Update).
Apple ecards: Apple has filed a patent for an ecard service. With the service, multiple users can sign an ecard. Multiple users can also pitch in on a gift purchased online.
French iPhone put on hold: It appears that the reports of a France Telecom/Apple deal may have been premature. The word now is that the two companies still need to hash things out.

The iPhone update is major. For one thing, it enables the iTunes WfFi store. For us to ignore the iPhone update release would be irresponsible.
And did you not notice that we headlined with a Leopard rumor, not the iPhone update, which is a story based in hard fact?
not big?

when I read the linked article about leopard i couldn't believe it whe they said it wasn't as big of an update as Tiger to Panther! What??? I just switched to Tiger a couple of weeks ago with the purchase of a new MacBook. It is Awesome and I love Dashboard and Frontrow, as well as the ability to run some of the apps that wouldn't run on 10.3.9, but there is not really THAT MUCH that has changed! Leopard brings a redesigned Finder (a first in several years) coverflow for files, SPACES, Time machine, a new Dock, Stacks, a sweet, clear menu bar!, an Apple TV-like Frontrow, quick look, highly updated iChat and Mail, Bootcamp, New iCal, New DVD Player!
Even Apple's website calls it "the biggest OS X upgrade ever"!what are they talking about?
I agree with the second Anonymous

Tiger was a really lame update, which is why I'm still on Panther. Leopard brings several new and much-needed updates. I'm actually looking forward to this upgrade, IT'S ABOUT TIME!

There was no mention of Panther; they never said 10.4 to 10.5 was a lesser upgrade than 10.3 to 10.4. They just said it wasn't "game-changing" or "groundbreaking."
I do agree that it's a more significant upgrade than they suggest. Certainly bigger than Vista was to XP.
Tiger was allright

Tiger did bring us Core Image which is just plain awesome. Like photoshop-built-into-your-operating-system awesome. But leopard will unleash Core Animation in addition to all it's other tidbits so I'd say it still ranks as a bigger upgrade.
