Good News Everybody! Snow Leopard is up an running on a computer rocking one of Intel's zippy next generation "Sandy Bridge" processors! That means a significant performance bump for the end-user! Now, the bad news: OS X only works with the new processor when forced to do so at gunpoint. Boo.
According to Mac Rumors, a group of intrepid hackers have managed to trick an installation of OS X into running with a Sandy Bridge processor under the hood, thanks to the use of a custom-made kernel designed to assist in booting the computer system to life. For those of us not well versed in the way of the Hackintosh, there's no need for tears. While the ability to hack a computer and bend it to our wills may elude most Mac users, rumor has it that Cupertino is pondering the use of Intel's next generation chip technology in a future rendition of some of its less powerful MacBook computers.
