MacBook Pro Smokes Windows Notebook

Sister site and arch nemesis, Maximum PC, put Apple's corral of notebooks to the test against Windows notebooks with similar features and specs.

The results? The MacBook Air got good marks for its value, while the MacBook Pro took down the Dell XPS M1530. Take that Michael Dell!

When I got my Macbook Pro 17" a few years ago, I was thrilled. I am disabled from the 1st Gulf War, so I used it from sun up until sun down. Them my 16 year old son wanted to use it because he broke his PC and couldn't play WOW. I caved and let him use it. Within a few months the charger got so hot it ultimately bent the frame of the side of the Macbook. I went and bought a new one (not cheap on my disability payments). That seemed to help, but a couple months later (specifically the day after the warranty expired) the screen died and wouldn't come on. Won't even turn on, although the battery lights are still lit up. I took it in and they said they had no idea what was wrong, but they could send it to get checked out for $300-$500 (of which I didn't have). So I'm back with a stupid Dell PC and each night I sneak a peek at my Macbook Pro, just to remember the good times we had together. No one knows I still have it, but you can't throw a beauty like that away!

Don't make it sound like that is Dell's top laptop. The Dell XPS M1530 is the second best. Hardware wise, excluding Windoze mind-you, M1750 has faster hard drives, and $50 less for 4gb of ram. No one appreciates spin. "Just the facts"

Now if the MBP would have these goodies, I'd bite.

I'm surprised Maxiumum PC didn't "sweep it under the rug" when their Dell didn't win.... did they honestly EXPECT it to???
