Walt Mossberg's recent 3G iPhone proclamation, was just an educated guess. The Wall Street Journal's tech journalist has no idea when the 3G iPhone will be released, and doesn't really care.

So, like the rest of us, Mossberg is speculating on when the next iPhone will be released. He told Silicon Alley Insider, "If I knew when this date was, why would I announce it in the middle of a sentence at the Finnish embassy, rather than report it in the Wall Street Journal?"

Mac|Life predicts a June, WWDC announcement and September release date. Apple still has the FCC to contend with.
