Source: 10.5.7 Hitting Your Mac on Friday
Posted 05/05/2009 at 3:20:16pm | by Roberto Baldwin

osxIf you've been champing at the bit for the magic of 10.5.7, according to a super-secret Apple source, your champing can cease on Friday. The newest version of Leopard is slated to fix a slew of networking, syncing and bluetooth issues.

Developers were seeded build 9J58 on Wednesday, April 29. This, possibly, final build corrected issues with iChat and Safari.

There is speculation that this will be the final update to Leopard before Snow Leopard's release. Apple is expected to release, or announce a release date, of Snow Leopard at WWDC at the beginning of June.

Until then, we'll just have to bask in the glory of a 10.5.7 lunatic weekend.

avatarHuzzah?

Does anyone know if 10.5.7 supposed to fix the issues with 3rd party RAM in unibody MacBooks? I heard 10.5.6 never addressed this officially.

In any case, this means we're one step closer to Snow Leopard, which I'm definitely looking forward to.

But can any product release assignment | assignment writing | assignment help | custom assignment since the iPhone be considered an indisputable game-changer? The MacBook Air--slim of profile, portly of charm--came close. However, once you come down from the high of marveling at its aesthetics, the Air is still a rather prosaic notebook from a functionality standpoint. A changer of games it is not.

avatarchamping or chomping

There is a great app in OS X called Dictionary. Try it!! chomp | ch ämp; ch ômp|verb [ intrans. ]1 munch or chew vigorously and noisily : he chomped on his sandwich.• (of a horse) make a noisy biting or chewing action.2 fret impatiently : he waited, chomping at her nonappearance.noun [in sing. ]a chewing noise or action.PHRASES•••• chomp (or CHAMP or chafe) at the bit be restless and impatient to start doing something.ORIGIN mid 17th cent. : probably imitative.   So, looks like "champing" is just fine, if one prefers it.

Champing is correct as per the OED. Perhaps you should educate yourself before you put yourself out there next time.

If you've ever heard or used the expression, it's always been "Chomping at the Bit" - at least here in Southern California. vitaminrad.com

avatar"chomp" is a dialect

"chomp" is a dialect variation of "champ", which means to chew vigorously or nervously, to grind the teeth, "champing at the bit" describes the behavior of a horse, anxious to get going.

Both uses are correct.

avatarchamping!

It's true that "chomping" is an accepted substitution, but "champing" is the original gangsta usage:http://www.word-detective.com/2007/03/01/champchomp/ ... But I think we can all agree that "chopping" was right out. if only roberto had avoided that typo, right from the gecko!

A new seed was dropped last night...9J60. I highly doubt the official release will be made available two days after a developer build.

Apple tends (Though they do break this from time to time) to release OS updates on Tuesday folks. The soonest we'll see this is the 12th and I'm thinking more like 19th.

avatarCame and gone

Well so much for MacLife's source as Friday came and is now gone with no 10.5.7 update for OS X Leopard users. MacLife should label this as rumor instead of posting it in the news section.

avatarSuper Secret Apple Source?

I'd say your "super-secret Apple source" was full of it. You've really discredited yourself with this one (especially after every other Mac news group circulated your prediction) . I've always trusted MacLife (and the previous incarnation) but now I'm always going to be wondering if what I'm reading in your pages is just more "super-secret source" stuff that will turn out to be wrong.
