At 16 years old most guys are too busy growing bad teenage mustaches and trying in vain to learn the guitar (both in the attempt to woo girls) to be bothered working on anything that could be considered "constructive." Manuel Martinez-Almeida of Spain isn't like most kids apparently. Most of his spare time recently has gone towards the development of his second iPhone game, Infinity Field.
His last game was titled Abstract War 2.0 [iTunes Link], and was obviously inspired by the successful twin-stick Xbox 360 shooter Geometry Wars. It featured enemies displayed as geometric shapes attacking the player's "ship" as the player attempted to evade and destroy them. Both games are also characterized by the way destroyed enemies erupt in a gorgeous display of fireworks. Infinity Field follows in the same vein as his previous effort.
This is no charity case though. You shouldn't buy this game just because you're thinking, "well isn't that cute! I should support this young man's hard work." You should buy it because it's also getting rave reviews.
Maybe this is the new way kids spend their time trying to impress girls these days. We'll have to check back in with Manuel later to see if this works for him.
Infinity Field is available on iPad for $1.99 [iTunes Link].
