2.8Ghz Core i7 MacBook Pro Likely for Later This Year

If you held off buying one of the new Core i5 or i7 MacBook Pro models that started shipping in April in the hopes of even more speed, your patience may be rewarded later this year.
MacRumors is reporting that a newly leaked Intel processor roadmap shows Core i7 processors with a speed bump on the radar for this fall. The Core i7-640M will run at 2.8GHz but capable of a “turbo boost” speed up to 3.46GHz.
Given that the leaked Core i7 processor draws the same amount of power as the current MacBook Pro processors, MacRumors notes that the new chips are a good fit for Apple, who has often quietly offered such speed-bump upgrades in the past, usually as a build-to-order option.
The newest MacBook Pro released in April caps off with a 2.66GHz Core i7 processor for the 15-inch and 17-inch models (only available as a build-to-order option on the latter).
