Just a few days after the Dev-Team released the 3.0 jailbreak and the ultraSn0w carrier unlock for the iPhone 3G, they have published a blog post saying that the same unlocks for the 3GS are laughably easy. In fact, the unlock for the iPod 2G, called 24Kpwn, seems to work on the 3GS, meaning that the same techniques used to jailbreak the iPod may work with the iPhone.
They have not said when they will be releasing the jailbreak and carrier unlock tools, but one can assume it is coming soon. So, not only is the dev-team smart, they clearly like mocking Apple engineers. We shall wait and see what Apple counters with.
