Ever wonder how iOS developers get some of the inspiration for their apps? In the case of Elite Platinum’s latest Singing Daisies app, the influence came from the heart and mind of the developer’s nine-year-old daughter, who he credits with coming up with the whole idea in the first place.
Elite Platinum has announced the availability of their first app, Singing Daisies for the iPhone and iPod touch (also available in an iPad version). On the surface, this social-themed entertainment app may not seem all that different from many similar titles in the App Store, which is chock full of talking animals and plenty of other ways to keep your little ones entertained.
However, Singing Daisies came to life with the inspiration of the developer’s nine-year-old daughter, who came up with the idea for the app after taking care of a real daisy for five months in order to give it to her mother for Mother’s Day. Over the course of three months, the youngster guided and even “bossed” her father into building the app, a story which has been cleverly documented in cartoon form on the company’s website.
The resulting app allows children (or anyone with the heart of a child) to customize the look of a cute little flower named Daisy, changing her mood and expressions with different mouths, eyes, hair, hats and much more. After you’ve built the perfect look for Daisy, make her dance to any song in your iTunes library and then share the results with friends and family via text message, email or Facebook.
There’s plenty more fun to be had with Singing Daisies as well. Daisy can record your voice and make it sound funny and you can even water her, wake her up, play peek-a-boo and watch her reactions and emotions as well.
Singing Daisies is available now on the App Store for only 99 cents (iPhone/iPod touch) or $1.99 for the iPad version. The apps are compatible with all devices running iOS 4.2 or later.
