Retro-inspired platformer, League of Evil [iTunes Link], has been released on the App Store today. If you were ever a fan of retro classic, Mega Man, or modern classic Super Meat Boy then you'll definitely want to check this one out. At $0.99, this is an extremely cheap way to get your retro gaming fix.
It's hard not to notice the similarities between this game and recent Xbox Live Arcade hit, Super Meat Boy. There are certainly differences, but they're both difficult platforming games with similar controls and pixel graphics so most of the important parts are accounted for.
League of Evil places you in the shoes of a bionic warrior on a mission to stop the League of Evil from destroying the world with weapons of mass destruction. In each level the challenge is to reach a League of Evil scientist at the end of the stage and literally punch his head off. There are sixty different levels with tons of great pixel art and chiptune (retro game music) jams.
We've tried this one out, and while it's a little light on content (the sixty levels are over in less than a couple hours) the game is still a blast. Anyone interested in retro platformers should definitely consider dropping the $0.99 for League of Evil.
