Adobe Creative Cloud already offers one of the best ways to get the company's full Creative Suite 6 products, and on Wednesday the subscription service is adding even more value with the Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition.
Adobe has announced the availability of its Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition to the Creative Cloud service, bringing a great way to provide one-off mobile apps without writing a single line of code.
Using Adobe InDesign CS6 which is already included with Creative Cloud, designers can simply the process of developing single-issue content apps for the iPad such as brochures, annual reports or personal design portfolios. These apps can even be optimized for display on both standard definition (iPad, iPad 2) and high resolution (new iPad) screens.
“Adobe Digital Publishing Suite is helping the publishing industry as well as corporate publishers by enabling them to transform their print publications into beautiful digital experiences," explains Adobe's senior vice president and general manager of Digital Media Business, David Wadhwani.
"With the inclusion of unlimited publishing of single-issue apps to iPad for Creative Cloud members, Adobe brings this capability to freelancers and design shops as well as corporate publishers," Wadhwani adds. "Adobe is delivering on our promise to keep Creative Cloud members ahead of the curve.”
Creative Cloud Mac users will also have the advantage of rapid preview and testing directly to a real iPad via USB, and all users will be able to update existing apps created with the DPS Single Edition after they have been submitted to and approved by Apple.
While the Single Edition of Digital Publishing Suite included with Creative Cloud allows an unlimited number of apps for publication to the App Store at no additional cost, it's important to note that multiple issues of the same content -- such as magazines or other periodicals -- still require the Professional or Enterprise versions of DPS. Designers are also required to have an iOS developer account (currently $99 per year) in order to actually publish their DPS content via the App Store.
Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition is also available as a standalone version for $395, but Adobe Creative Cloud members have access to this product starting Wednesday, Sept. 19 for the same $49.99 per month with annual membership ($74.99 for month-to-month subscriptions).
Adobe has also extended their $29.99 per month offer for Creative Cloud for users who upgrade from a previous version of the Creative Suite product, and the same pricing applies to educational customers as well.
