Initially promised as part of Adobe's $49.99 per month Creative Cloud subscription service, Lightroom 4 was MIA when the service launched in May -- an injustice that the company has rectified this week.
Adobe's Creative Cloud Team Blog has announced that Lighroom 4 is now officially part of the Creative Cloud software offerings, and subscription members can now download and install the software on both Mac and PC from their Apps & Services page.
"If you have a Creative Cloud membership, this new release is included along with future updates to Lightroom and all our other applications," notes Jeffrey Veen, Adobe's vice president of products.
"The new features in Lightroom are simply fantastic," Veen continues. "The team has really found the right balance between powerful controls and an intuitive user experience. Image importing, management, and processing is better than it ever has been. The new video, geolocation, and book publishing tools all point to how quickly Lightroom is responding to the world’s changing technology."
Adobe Creative Suite 3 or later owners can still take advantage of the company's discounted special offer for the first year of Creative Cloud membership at $29.99 per month, although the blog cautions "we won’t be running that offer much longer, though."
