Adobe is finally overhauling its Creative Suite package of applications in Adobe CS5. The update (which should ship sometime this spring) will bring much needed 64-bit support for Photoshop. As many may know, 32-bit apps are limited to only fully utilizing 4GB of RAM, so this new update will allow for more memory usage. This should bring smiles to the faces of users who mess around with large files on a daily basis.
Some of the bigger changes, however, are happening with Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver. Both applications will be getting code hinting for ActionScript. Flash will also be getting development tools that will give users the ability to create native applications for the iPhone.
This information comes on the heels of Adobe's confession that Flash isn't quite up to par on the Mac when compared to Windows. The additions to Flash could also be Adobe's foot in the door of iPhone application development. This way, they are able to change with the market. If everything turns south and HTML5 becomes the dominant way of delivering video content online, they'll still have Flash users (that already know how to program with Flash/ActionScript), and can still use the application to create native applications on the iPhone.
Either way, CS5 looks like it will be an awesome addition to the Adobe family. As previously mentioned on AppleInsider, the applications will also be getting a user interface design makeover.
