Since its inception, Adobe's Creative Cloud has received regular updates to its suite of subscription-based products. On Thursday, Adobe announced its acquisition of Behance, the social platform designed for artists, photographers, and other creatives to display their portfolios. The features of Behance will bring further social functions to the Creative Cloud.
"When we launched Creative Cloud earlier this year, we committed that we would give members new value on an ongoing basis," said Adobe senior VP and general manager, David Wadhwani via press release. "Behance will play a key role in Adobe’s efforts to serve the creative world in the years to come and will accelerate our efforts to enable a more open and collaborative creative community."
According to Adobe, Behance hosts over 3 million portfolio projects, and compatible websites have pulled over 90 million views in just the last month, alone.
Adobe's recent updates to Creative Cloud have included file sync, new Photoshop features, and digital publishing support to name a few. While most of those additions have focused on adding improvements to Adobe's current suite, the Behance acquisition is an opportunity to assist artists in self-promotion.
"As creatives rely more on the social web for collaboration and opportunity, creative people and teams will benefit from Behance's community features integrated into the creative process," said Behance co-founder and CEO, Scott Belsky. "We're thrilled to join Adobe and empower creative careers on a global scale."
Adobe certainly seems committed to its promise of consistent updates to Creative Cloud, offering more and more reasons to sign-on for the subscription service. Be sure to check out our review if you're considering making the leap.
