Remember the Apple Digital AV Adapter? Imagine that functionality, except wireless, and you've got AirPlay Mirroring. Mentioned in passing in Monday's Keynote, this sweet little bit o' kit lets you see iPad content on your TV, as long as you've got an Apple TV hooked up to it.
Imagine big screen YouTube videos, Netflix movies, or even teleconference meetings. How about displaying your recent European trip photos for the entire family to watch? For the masochist art designers out there, you could throw some comps on the screen for everyone to criticize. The possibilities are exciting!
The only drawback in our minds is in gaming, where you'll need to be looking at the iPad to navigate the controls. However, even that is mitigated by the fun to be had playing a hot seat multiplayer game where everyone not currently playing is watching the fun on the big screen. You'll need a 2nd generation Apple TV to enjoy mirroring, and it's unknown what the range of the service will be, nor what sort of latency we might encounter. Still, for those of you iPad owners who wish you had just a bit more real estate, AirPlay Mirroring is just for you! Check out the video below to see it in action.
