Yahoo! is on a tear this week, following up its new Yahoo! Mail app for iOS with a complete redesign of the company's official Flickr app -- which is curiously still not a universal build for the iPad.
Yahoo! has released a new version 2.00.762 of the free, official Flickr app for iPhone and iPod touch. If you weren't a big fan of the previous versions, the complete redesign in the latest release may have you ready to ditch that paid third-party app at last.
"The all-new Flickr App is a complete redesign of the previous version," the app description reads. "It’s now easier to use, more beautiful and includes more of the great features you love using on Flickr.com."
Those features include a simple signup and registration process, 16 unique camera filters, full Groups capabilities for the first time and the ability to explore interesting photos from nearby or around the world.
While the overhaul is certainly welcome and may ultimately be a blow to the cottage industry that has sprouted up in the App Store for paid third-party solutions, Yahoo! continues to ignore the iPad -- Flickr's official app is still not a native, universal build.
Otherwise, Flickr 2.00.762 is well worth the download -- the 25.4MB app is compatible with all devices running iOS 4.3 or later and is optimized for the iPhone 5.
