Two prominent cloud-based music streaming apps received nifty updates on Wednesday, with one going super-sized for the iPad while the other brings a shiny new interface to the iPhone.
Amazon pushed out an update for its Cloud Player app on Wednesday, now available as a universal build for native iPad support. The streaming music app has gained momentum in recent months with Amazon's continued efforts to push back against the iTunes goliath, and iPad users will certainly appreciate having to no longer rely on Mobile Safari for streaming their music libraries there.
In addition to iPad support, Amazon Cloud Player 2.0 also offers a slightly new, cleaner look for the app along with a new setting to manage the cache size, particularly helpful for those with lower capacity devices.
But Amazon isn't the only music app getting an update today -- Spotify's official app has been bumped to version 0.6.0, introducing a "shiny new look" for the iPhone, complete with sidebar navigation.
Spotify for iOS also features a new Now Playing bar at the bottom so you can control playback even when you're browsing elsewhere in the app. Switch tracks by swiping and tap or drag to view more information about the current track; tapping the cover art also pulls up an extended view for AirPlay control or shuffle and repeat options.
Last but certainly not least, Spotify now features a Track menu for pulling up a redesigned contextual menu from any list of tracks, and a trio of bug fixes round out the latest update.
Both updates are now available in the App Store and as always, they're absolutely free.
