Just before the weekend, Doodle Jump developer Lima Sky announced a partnership with a major film studio to cross-promote a new upcoming children's flick. Perhaps feeling left out of the party, today Angry Birds developer Rovio Mobile has made a similar announcement. The company will release Angry Birds Rio to coincide with the release of the latest talking-animals CG movie, Rio.
This promotion will take things a step further than the Doodle Jump announcement however, as Rovio Mobile announced that they will be releasing 45 new levels based on the "Rio" theme. They're also promising that this partnership will include several updates to the app as the film gets closer to its April 8, 2011 release date.
Getting sick of Angry Birds yet? Well, after this Spring we're guessing you probably will be. Remember, in addition to this new tie-in there is also the upcoming Angry Birds Valentine's Day holiday release and the Angry Birds board game. There's never been a better time to be a fan of physics-based puzzle games. We just hope Rovio Mobile doesn't oversaturate our minds with new Angry Birds content.
There's no word yet on the pricing details for this app, but it's likely to be free considering it's a joint advertising effort. However, with Angry Birds you never know. Millions of people would be more than willing to shell out $0.99 for this game.
