So you're bored with Draw Something and all these other simplistic turn-based mobile games. What's next? AOL may have just the thing with a new free social video game for mobile called Clucks.
AOL has announced the release of Clucks, a free mobile game which allows players to take turns viewing a short video and compete for points by describing and guessing a special word.
"Let’s play Clucks, the first social video game for mobile!" the app description reads. "Win Clucks by teaming up with friends to guess words like "chicken" without saying any of the obvious words like 'coop,' 'bird,' 'feather,' 'beak,' 'bokbok,' or 'soup.'
Here's how it works: The first player records a 12-second video describing a special word using the front-facing camera on their device, but must avoid five "forbidden" words. Player two is then recorded while watching the video, and then has 12 seconds to guess the special word. The two videos are then stitched together and "clucks" (i.e., points) are awarded or lost during gameplay accordingly.
No iOS friends to play with? Clucks users can also compete against Facebook friends or even play solo games against prerecorded opponents in the "Barnyard."
Clucks is the first game to tap into Nuance Dragon's voice recognition technology to keep players on both side of the mobile app honest. When the game is finished, players can even share their videos with more than 40 million registered users on Viddy.
Available as a free App Store download for iPhone/iPod touch, Clucks also features a variety of upgrades available as in-app purchases, including extra clucks. An iPhone 4 or fourth-gen iPod touch or higher is required running at least iOS 5.0, and the app is optimized for the iPhone 5.
