APE Entertainment's David Hedgecock Chats About the Cut the Rope Digital Comic

This week, you may have read that Cut the Rope made the leap from mobile game to comic book. This is exciting news not only for the developers of the adorable game, but also for the fans. We sat down with David Hedgecock of APE Entertainment for a few minutes at Comic-Con and chatted about the upcoming digital comic book.
The idea for a Cut the Rope series has been in the works for a few months now. Hedgecock originally approached ZeptoLab with the idea, piggybacking off of the success of the Pocket God comic series. "Cut the Rope seemed like another game that had a story about it," he says. "There's a huge universe we're building around this character. He's really intriguing. I can't wait for the fans to see it."
Of course, Om Nom is always going to be our favorite protagonist, especially with his cutesy, googley eyes and the sounds he makes each time he chews up a piece of candy. But there may be a few other characters in tow as soon as the comic books hit the store. When asked about whether or not there'll be new characters from the comic book that'll make it into the game -- and vice versa -- Hedgecock answered, "Yes, absolutely." This could even mean new versions and levels of Cut the Rope to come, but that's just our inference.
Currently, Hedgecock has made no mention of turning other popular iOS games into comic books. But if you're really curious, you can purchase your own copy this August for $1.99 from the App Store, right on your iOS device.
