Following the fiasco between Apple and Trent Reznor concerning the nin access app update, there is now word that the iPhone 3.0 software might be the solution to the tight App Store policies.
iLounge reports that Apple had rejected an app from Makayama called Newspaper(s), which pulls content from newspapers all over the world, allowing the user to view up to 50 international papers. However, a UK tabloid, The Sun, contains photos of topless women in its Page 3 section. Apple informed Makayama that new parental controls will be in 3.0, and to resubmit the app once the feature is available. Currently, Makayama has since removed The Sun from the app's database and is in the App Store for $.99.
So 3.0 may lift the heavy restrictions of their approval process and developers may see their apps with 'objectionable' content in the App Store. No further detail about the parental controls have been revealed, but this will be great for developers to hear.
Hear that, Trent? If you can hold out long enough, you won't need to resort to serving only the jailbroken community.
