Tech companies like Apple, Facebook, and Intel offer employment to large numbers of Americans. But according to statements from all three organizations, each feels bans on same-sex marriage in some states are hindering recruiting and employee morale. The group, which also includes financial firm Morgan Stanley, is planning to ask the Supreme Court to enforce marriage equality nationwide.
As noted by Bloomberg, the companies will urge the highest court in the land to take a hard look at recent anti-gay marriage bills, like California's Proposition 8. The Supreme Court will be revisiting the legislation this week.

"No matter how welcoming the corporate culture, it cannot overcome the societal stigma institutionalized by Proposition 8 and similar laws," reads a statement from the companies.
A much larger conglomeration of corporations will make similar statements to the Supreme Court later this month, as the Justices evaluate two pending cases questioning the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act. Among the 250-plus companies in that group are tech giants like Ebay, Oracle, Panasonic, Qualcomm, Xerox, and Zynga.
