Rumors are circulating regarding Intel’s new family of quad-core chips that
have been specially designed for small form-factor PCs like the Mac
mini and all-in-one systems such as the iMac.
The DigiTimes in Taiwan cite sources that say that Intel plans on
releasing the 65W low-power chips in mid-January and that there will be
a total of three new chips, ranging from 2.33GHz/4MB L2 to 2.83GHz/12MB
L2.
Companies such as Apple, Acer, HP, and Dell have already
decided to manufacture products based on the new CPUs, undoubtedly
increasing competition in the industry. And if the rumors are true,
then there’s a strong indication that the Mac mini is, in fact,
planning a fierce comeback.
