In keeping with the September release promise for Mac OS X Snow
Leopard, Apple has finally announced the release date for their newest
cat on the street. Snow Leopard will go on sale at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Retailers on August 28, 2009. Apple is now offering pre-orders of the OS on their online store as well.
Snow Leopard sells for $29 for a single user and $49 for a family pack. If you are running Mac OS X Tiger, you will need to purchase the Mac Box Set in order to upgrade to Snow Leopard since the $29/$49 versions are simply upgrades for Leopard users. The Mac Box Set sells for $169.
You can grab your pre-order of Snow Leopard on the Apple Online Store, or wait around until August 28th to go to an Apple Store.
