Millions of iPhone users were unable to make or receive telephone calls for a few hours today, after Apple temporarily disabled the phone functionality of the iPhone.
In a statement, the company said it had disabled phone calling because users might produce or listen to objectionable sounds while in conversation on the phone. It later reconsidered its decision, and restored telephone functionality.
The decision to suspend service was made by the same person that on March 10
rejected Twitter client app Tweetie 1.3 from the App Store. The reason for rejection was because the software displayed objectionable words downloaded from the Internet. The software was later approved on the same day.
