Following a report earlier this week that Japanese Apple Store locations had served as a means of communication for many in the beleaguered country after last week’s earthquake and tsunami comes word that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has pledged his company’s assistance with employees there.
MacRumors is reporting that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has sent an e-mail to company employees in Japan offering assistance to Apple staff affected by the country’s recent multiple disasters. The contents of the e-mail were posted to Chihouban.com (by way of Macotakara) and independently received by MacRumors.
To Our Team in Japan,
We have all been following the unfolding disaster in Japan. Our hearts go out to you and your families, as well as all of your countrymen who have been touched by this tragedy.
If you need time or resources to visit or care for your families, please see HR and we will help you. If you are aware of any supplies that are needed, please also tell HR and we will do what we can to arrange delivery.
Again, our hearts go out to you during this unimaginable crisis.
Please stay safe.
Steve and the entire Executive Team
Apple has delayed the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while recovery efforts are ongoing there, and the company has set up Red Cross donations through iTunes to help with those efforts.
