Following a recap of the company's September product announcements, Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced iBooks 3.0, a new version available to download from the App Store today.
Apple CEO Tim Cook hit the stage at the California Theatre in San Jose to announce the company's first new product of the day, iBooks 3.0.
Apple's iBookstore has racked up 400 million downloads to date, with more than 1.5 million books available. Cook touted the app's "gorgeous pages" and available themes for day or night reading prior to introducing the latest version.
Available in the App Store today, iBooks 3.0 introduces continuous scrolling, allowing users to skip the page flipping. iCloud is also more deeply integrated into the app for syncing your position wirelessly across all devices.
iBooks 3.0 also allows users to post excerpts of their favorite books to Twitter or Facebook, and the app now supports 40 languages total. The update hasn't turned up on the App Store at this writing, but should be available later today.
