According to the Baltimore Sun, a new Apple patent was made public today, which shows that the company is working on creating a new parking app that would combine a user's geo-location with information about parking garages and their regulations.
The methods described in the app show that it uses both GPS and triangulation to assist users in locating themselves on a map. After that, the app uses a computer algorithm to send automatic alerts which warn the user when they're about to violate parking regulations for that area.
The patent states this about the app: "It has been considered to provide advertisements and other information pertaining to a present location of a mobile device. For example, detecting a present location of a mobile device, and providing information, including advertisements, about restaurants in that vicinity is an application that has generated interest."
Now if it could only help you remember where you put your keys...
