While Apple goes on and on and how great OS X is and how Windows is inferior to it, buying products at the Apple Store meant you've been rung up with a WinMo device running the EasyPay system. You almost feel dirty when they print out the receipt for you and you see Windows on the screen. So very dirty...
AppleInsider reports that Apple is finally going Apple for their POS system, and plans on using iPod touches to ring us all up. Since iPhone Software 3.0 will allow the use of third-party peripherals, Apple Store employees will soon be able to swipe your credit card using an iPod touch.
AppleInsider's sources claim that Apple will begin using a customized POS system with an external credit card reader in July and will complete a rollout to all stores by September. If true, expect to see a large supply of WinMo devices for sale on craigslist.org at the end of August.
