Apple Guaranteeing The iPad's Battery Life

One of the bummers with the iPhone was the inability to remove the battery and get a new one should it fail. The iPad appears to be going the same route. However, according to InformationWeek, should the iPad's battery fail, Apple will send one an entirely new iPad for $99.
"If your iPad requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee," the company posted in a support bulletin on their web site.
On the flip side though, we all know Apple can get very nitpicky when it comes to returning their products. "Your iPad is not eligible for Battery Replacement Service if the product has been damaged, for example as a result of an accident, liquid contact, disassembly, unauthorized service or unauthorized modifications, or if the product is not operating correctly as a result of a component failure," the statement continued.
And then you'll also need to make sure any data on your current iPad is backed up before sending the defective one to Apple. "You will receive a replacement iPad that will not contain any of your personal data," Apple continued. "Before you submit your iPad for service it is important to sync your iPad with iTunes to back up your contacts, calendars, email account settings, bookmarks, apps, etc."
What's not known is if Apple's intentions are to replace battery-inept iPads with brand spanking new ones, or ones of the refurbished kind. Apple has claimed that a proper working iPad battery should hold a charge for about 10 hours.
The Wi-Fi only iPad is now available for pre-order through Apple's Online Store.
