If you live in France or Ireland, you can now join in the fun of buying movies on Apple’s iTunes Store at long last.
MacRumors is reporting that Apple launched movie downloads for their iTunes Store in both France and Ireland over the weekend. The new offering includes selections from European-centric studios as well as majors such as 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, Sony, Universal, Disney and Warner Bros.
“iTunes movies start at €7.99 for catalog title purchases, €9.99 for recent releases and €13.99 for new releases,” Apple’s press releases announced Friday. “iTunes Movie Rentals are €2.99 for library title rentals and €3.99 for new releases, and high definition versions are priced at just one euro more.”
As MacRumors notes, “Apple’s movie rental system program allows users 30 days from the time of payment to watch content, although once a movie has been started, customers have 48 hours to complete their viewing.”
Movie purchasing was first added to the U.S. iTunes Store in late 2006 with Disney content, but has expanded its catalog to other studios -- as well as other countries -- in the years since. iTunes Store movie rental is a more recent offering, having only first appeared in the U.S. in early 2008.
