Today Apple started offering iTunes gift cards via Facebook, allowing a
sender to customize a card before sending it to the recipient.
Fans of Apple's Facebook page now get an new tab called iTunes Gifts that lets the user to customize and send any one of 6 themed digital gift cards.
Previously available only on the iTunes Store, these digital gift cards can be sent to friends, family and acquaintances in denominations between $5 and $50. You can choose to send the card instantly, or at a later date for special occasions.
When the gift card is sent, your Facebook friend will get your customized message and a code that they can redeem on the iTunes Store.
9to5 Mac notes that the Facebook application was created by GroupCard, making this the first time we know of that another company has created this type of application for digital iTunes gift cards.
