Apple Officially Commits To October 4 Media Event For iPhone 5
It’s a date! Apple has made the rumored October 4 media event official on Tuesday morning with an invitation for the media to attend a shindig on Apple’s own campus. And there’s no mistaking what this event is about, because the subject of the invite makes it clear: “Let’s talk iPhone.”
The Loop and This Is My Next have both confirmed that Apple is sending out invitations to the media this morning for an event to be held at the company’s Cupertino campus next Tuesday, October 4 at 10am PST (1pm EST). That date was widely predicted by AllThingsD some weeks ago, although it’s still unclear if the iPhone 5 will be the focus or simply a spec-bumped iPhone “4S” as frequently speculated.
One thing’s for sure: The topic at hand will be the iPhone, as witnessed by the image on the invite seen above with the phrase “Let’s talk iPhone” at the bottom. Sure sounds like those rumors of voice control on the next model are true, doesn’t it?

I believe the one on the phone signal is indicating they will be releasing 1 new phone! And it will be the iPhone 5, because the numbers add up!

Look closer! There is a red 1 on the phone icon. So yes the four icons give the time date location and the item to be displayed that day

Well, @Geoduck- the Invitation clearly says "Let's Talk iPhone." So., that means the iPod will not be a huge focus on the media presentation. Man, I am so anxious for October 4th. I do, think however, they will cancel the iPod line leaving the iPod shuffle nano the only option to have. For Apple, it's so 'old skool.'

I wonder if iOS5 will be released to the public at this event.

The Fall event has usually been about iPods. I hope their's still time for an updated iPod Touch and other tweaks to the line. Some of us are more interested in that then an new iPhone.

Please take the 5 off of your headline. There's no mention of an iPhone 5 in the invite. It just simply says, "Let's talk iPhone" That could mean ANYTHING!

Sure there is. Add the date (4) + the badge notification over the phone (1). (4) + (1) = 5. There's also an alarm icon up there. It's crystal clear. "time for the iPhone 5."
