Apple Out of 3G iPhones
In just a few short days, we'll find out if the rumors are true about the fourth generation iPhone being released at WWDC. The smart money's betting on "yes."
Meanwhile, if you ever needed more evidence that the release is imminent one way or another, there's this.

It was just a couple weeks ago that Wal-Mart said they'd be stocking the 16GB iPhone 3G S at $97 which was a pretty good sign that that would be the base model. Now, according to Electronista, Cupertino's released a memo to retailers declaring the 8GB iPhone 3G out of stock. As in finished, caput. Not making any more of them.
With the 16GB 3G S dropping down to the lowest level model of the popular Apple handset, something has to step in to take its place, and somehow we can't see it being a higher level of gigs in the 3G S. I'm sure we'll all know in a few days, but with no other planned Apple event on the horizon, WWDC is looking like a lock.
Now, won't you join us in a moment of silence for the passing of the 3G? Pour a little on the curb, kids.

Fellow Mac users, we gather here today in remembrance of the iPhone 3G, the first iPhone to officially be released around the world, and the first iPhone to come with the App Store. Oh iPhone 3G, how you changed the world and how we look at mobile devices. Thank you for your 3G coverage. Rest in peace iPhone 3G, and may iGod bring you into the iHeavens, and may your processor find rest. Amen!
