It’s widely known that Apple has been building a new data center in North Carolina, which will likely house many of the iCloud secrets the company plans to unveil at WWDC next week -- but Cupertino is also planning a new retail store just a stone’s throw away.
9to5Mac is reporting that Apple will be opening a new retail store in Charlotte, North Carolina -- a mere 30 miles from their $1 billion data center which will soon spring to life with iCloud after the official announcement next Monday.
According to ifoAppleStore, the new Charlotte location will become the fifth Apple Store in North Carolina, and actually the second in that city. “It will be located on the second level of the Northlake Mall, on the city’s north side some sixteen miles north of the existing SouthPark location,” notes 9to5Mac.
No date has been announced for the grand opening, but the fourth quarter of this year has been pegged as likely. Charlotte Apple fans, are you excited? You’ll be able to pick up the latest Apple product, then take a short drive outside of the city and have a scenic picnic outside the gates of the company’s data center. Lucky you!
