Apple Senior VP of Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller has introduced a refresh of the company's smallest Mac, starting at $499 and shipping today.
Not content to simply add a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display to its Mac lineup, Apple's Phil Schiller moved on to introduce a refreshed Mac mini.
"You knew there'd be something called mini in this presentation," Schiller quipped as he launched into the details of its latest Mac mini.
While not quite the complete overhaul received by the iMac today, the Mac mini has been updated with third-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 or quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, making them twice as fast with up to 65 percent faster integrated graphics.
The new Mac mini comes standard with 4GB of 1600MHz RAM, with support for up to 16GB, now offering four USB 3.0 ports along with Thunderbolt, HDMI, SDXC, Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire 800.
Available today, the entry-level Mac mini features a 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1 GHz, 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive for only $599 along with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz, 4GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive for $799 and a Mac mini Server model priced at $999.
