It’s been less than a week, and already Apple has offered up a second build of Mac OS X 10.6.5 to developers -- which could indicate it may be released to the public at large sooner rather than later.
MacRumors is reporting on the seeding of Build 10H529, the second version of Mac OS X 10.6.5 to land in the hands of developers, just six days after the first. According to iPhoneInCanada.ca, the rapidly released second build resolves only two documented known issues from the previous build, and nothing new.
Build 10H529 focuses on Apple Filing Protocol (AFP), Mail, printing, 3D graphics, QuickTime and X11, removing iCal from the first build’s list of areas of concern.
MacRumors notes that Apple historically waits at least a week between first and second developer builds. The last time the company moved this quickly (only six days between builds) was with Mac OS X 10.6.2, which was in testing for only a month or so before seeing public release last November.
While there’s every indication that Mac OS X 10.6.5 may be in users’ hands sooner rather than later, Apple is unpredictable with their release schedules so all we can do now is wait -- and keep following news about these developer builds, looking for clues.
